How to clear the Qmail Queue (clean & delete it quickly)

Awe shiznit!! Is your qmail queue on your server out of control? Look no further! Here’s a quick and easy way to clear, clean, or empty your qmail queue.

Clear & Clean Qmail Queue Completely, Safely & Fast!

This script should not remove anything it should not remove, and it should clear all e-mail from your qmail queue safely so you can start sending mail normally again. (This is for qmail only and not a solution for any other mail programs.) You’re going to need ssh access and an ssh program like putty or putty portable.

Let’s get busy with the Qmail Clear script:

  1. Log into your server through ssh
  2. type this:
    su –
  3. type this:
  4. type this:
    sh or sh ./
  5. done.

I took the downloadable script down so you’ll need to write it yourself, but just as a quick summary so you know what it’s doing, the Qmail Clear script looks like this:

echo Cleaning Queue
mv /var/qmail/queue/lock /root/
cd /var/qmail/queue; find . -type f -exec rm -f ‘{}’ \;
mv /root/lock /var/qmail/queue/
echo Queue is now Clean

If this didn’t do the trick and you’re receiving oversized file truncating errors (or “Argument list too long”) then you should use this more intense script. It will take longer but it will get the job done.

Let’s get busy with the Qmail Clean script :

  1. Log into your server through ssh
  2. type this:
    su –
  3. type this:
  4. type this:
    sh or sh ./
  5. done.

DO NOT restart any process. DO NOT reboot the server. DO NOT do anything until the script says it is done. If you restart a process, etc, it will break qmail and that’s no fun. Just run the script until it’s complete.

You can download the script and view all of the code yourself, but here’s a quick summary of the main lines of code so you know what’s taking place when running the Qmail Clean script:

echo “Stopping Qmail”
/etc/init.d/qmail stop
echo “Clearing the Mail Queue”
cd /var/qmail/queue/info
rm -rf blah blah blah
echo “Info folder clean, clearing mess folder”
cd /var/qmail/queue/mess
rm -rf blah blah blah
echo “Mess folder clean, clearing remote folder”
cd /var/qmail/queue/remote
rm -rf blah blah blah
echo “Remote folder clean, clearing intd folder”
cd /var/qmail/queue/intd
rm -rf blah blah blah
echo “Intd folder clean, clearing local folder”
cd /var/qmail/queue/local
rm -rf blah blah blah
echo “Local folder clean, clearing todo folder”
cd /var/qmail/queue/todo
rm -rf blah blah blah
echo “Mail queue cleaned”
echo “Restarting Qmail Now”
/etc/init.d/qmail start
echo “Qmail Started!”
echo “Done!”

How to repair scratched DVDs

I did this as an experiment and it worked!

  1. First I use an optical cloth (purchased for $3-5 at a glasses store like Pearle Vision) and the optical cleaning spray. I spray the DVD with a light mist, and then use the soft optical cloth to clean off the DVD surface. You should pull it away from the center toward the outer edge of the DVD. This will reduce any further damage. Pull in a straight line, never go around in a circle to clean the DVD. Once dry, try to see if the DVD works now. If it doesn’t, move onto step 2.
  2. Once clean I take some regular toothpaste (YES! Toothpaste!). You’re using this as a polish. I put some toothpaste on my finger and rub it on the scratched surface area. I usually end up covering about 1/5 of the DVD surface. Then I let it dry.
  3. Once the toothpaste is dry, take the optical cloth and wipe the toothpaste in a circular motion. Repeat this with clean parts of the cloth until you can no longer see the toothpaste. Then I take the cloth and pull from the center of the disc to the outer edge in a straight line similar to step 1.

Once dry and buffed give it a shot. This has worked 75% of the time for me. If this does not work you can start over… clean the DVD again and use a few drops of Brasso polish instead of tooth paste. Let it dry, then rub it off with the clean optical cloth.

Here’s another method to try:

Remove The Yellow Google AdSense Background

I’ve had problems on websites when I display Google Adsense ads. The problem is a yellow background! Before they show activation and they show up, they will end up with a background. It’s usually yellow if you’re using WordPress. However I’m using their largest ads available on a site but it seems they are filling the gaps right now with smaller images leaving strange yellow backgrounds. Anyway – I found the solution! It’s in your Stylesheet that has a predefined “ins” code.

Here’s the solution I found. And one more.

And here’s how I’m using the custom WordPress CSS to fix it.

How to choose the right hosting service for a video website

Choosing the perfect web hosting service is honestly not an easy task. Nowadays there are literally thousands of them to go through, with almost 90% of them being identical, which makes it even harder to choose from. So there are a few decisive factors which have to be met by the hosting service, for you to choose the right one.

1. Analyze the disk space provided:
There can be nothing more important than the disk space for a video website. Everybody knows that videos take up a ton of space depending on their quality, and people who visit these sites only go for high quality videos. So that means the videos uploaded should be of high quality and that directly leads to the videos taking up loads of space.

2. Bandwidth, what is it and why should it be huge?
Meaning, the bandwidth provided should be strong enough to withstand traffic. Ok, basically a bandwidth is a virtual road that can hold thousands of virtual cars, in this case the viewers. If the road is not wide or strong enough, it may cause a traffic jam or even worse break and fall apart. So wide road more cars, wide bandwidth more viewers/hits.

3. Is FTP access provided?
FTP is a software that is used to upload videos to the website without logging into the account each and every time you want to upload a video. Now most of the hosting websites are providing this service, but it’s never wrong to be sure right?

4. Customer Service is extremely important
It’s always a good thing to find a host service that provides first-rate customer service. Ken from suggests that you send them an email and see how quickly they response to it to determine this factor. Try to find a host who can provide it 24×7, so that any viewer problems or hosting problems can be solved ASAP. Checking for hosts who can provide all these can be considered a right host for a video website.

How to Short Sell Bitcoins

Bitcoin is the first decentralized digital currency. It is a digital coin that you can send or
trade through the internet with your computer or smartphone locally or internationally
without a compromising financial institution. It is based on an open-source, peer to peer
internet and nobody owns it. The rise of bitcoin has developed media frenzy.

New to BItcoin? Start here at We Use Coins.

Since the beginning of 2013, the value of bitcoin has risen by 631% which is
denominated in dollars. Plenty of people think that means good news but the company
will not make it easy for you to “short” or bringing down its value if you’re one of these
bitcoin bears. We will discuss here some tips on how to short bitcoins if it necessary.

A picture of Bitcoins

Using a currency pair is the common way to short a currency like for example EUR
and USD, where the value of a euro denominated in dollars are trade as a single unit.
Here is an example to make it clearly; if the euro was trading at USD1.3000, you would
“borrow” a currency pair from your broker that you need to return within a certain period
of time, and sell it on the open market, taking $1.30. If after about an hour the trading of
EUR/USD is at $1.2950, you can buy the currency pair at that price and return it to your
broker, earning a profit of $0.0050. But make sure you won’t get wrong, because if you
do, you lose out.

Other two notable ways to short bitcoins are through a) ICBIT where it allows traders to make bets using futures. With this, you can make profit without buying the actual
bitcoins themselves because futures contracts can be bought and sold. ICBIT also allows
you to trade commodities in bitcoins such as oil. b) Bitfinex, a Hong Kong based bitcoin
exchange, allows ordinary bitcoin holders to act like brokers and lend bitcoins to those
who want to trade them.
